I have been led to believe that Nervous Wreck will be playing at the Empress on the 24th November.
One of the support bands is Armchair Critics - a band we were supposed to play with at the Yak and the House of Fools.
Anyways, anyone else going to to that 24th Nov gig?

The Five Venoms
There's a band called The Five Venoms - probably named after some old kung fu movie. Saw them last night at the Old Bar.
They were incredible. Spinal Tap to the nth degree. Glam to the max! Twin guitar solos, the hair, the leather pants, the works. Plus they did a crazy-ass cover of Queen's song thingie - we will rock you...
Catch em if you can

i soo want Mac OS X
sigh.. recently i have been reading a whole lot about apple's Mac OS X.. and im left drooling..
firstly an opensource emulator PearPC v0.3.0's ability to emulate apple hardware enough to run Mac OS X -- a world first.
a commercial emulator called CherryOS which has been announced to support OS X at 80% of native hardware speeds, but with much scepticizm as noone had seen this emulator actually running and their proof *seems* to be, dare i say doctored PearPC graphics (hell im a sceptic untill i can see it running myself)
and finally very interesting read of "A Month with a Mac: A Die-Hard PC User's Perspective" (link to article)
so now.. im after an affordable apple laptop.. hmm.. but what can i say.. here in australia they cost about 2.5X as much as an equivalent PC laptop.
Should i blow at least 4K of my hard earned moneys??

bit of an update..
its been all quiet on the western front here, as i still recover from a rather massive weekend that is. ugh.. why does my head still hurt.. and its tuesday..
lately at work i have had the pleaseure of having a play with mambo, which is a content management system that has won quite a few awards, not to mention the "Linux User and Developer Expo 2004 best Linux or Opensource software award".
It comes in both opensource and commercial licencing (commercial licencing includes support), but i for those that dont want the commercial version, i have found the mambo community vey strong and supportive.
I do have one criticism of mambo opensource though, and that is mamboforge which is a great idea (it contains all the plugins - modules and components in mambo terminology) but each module or component has the *most undescriptive* description i have ever seen (if it even exists). The lack of documentation is also appalling (but at least i can see that there are people trying to rectify this). This, in the end means you spend hours testing and randomly trying out new modules and components in a hope that you find what you are looking for, but in the end with perserverance, you will find it.

huh?
I haven't been a Melbourne Uni student for some time now...
So - when will my access card and login expire!??!
WHEN I ask?!?!?
It's not such a bad thing - the disabled toilets in the computer lab building are nice.
